The PANASONIC RP-HTF600-S vs Sennheiser HD448 vs Shure SRH440s

I'm looking for a nice set of headphones at a reasonable price.. These are the best headphones I found based off the comments on here.. I'm leaning more towards the HTF600 since that has been a rave on here (and I like the price), however, I'm not modding anything, so I don't know how good it would be.. Also, another one I like is the HD448 because I read it has good noise cancellation. I want headphones under $100 and I like to listen to rap, then reggae, alternative rock (Green Day, Nirvana, etc), pop (Lada GaGa, Katy Perry, etc), and that's mostly it.. So I'm not sure which one I should get or if there are any other suggestions..

EDIT: I just put the Shure up there because I like the style and I read it was a good company and the price isn't too bad.. And when I say less than $100, I mean no more than the price of the HD448 which is around $60 bucks..

You're logic is pretty funny... good thing you cleared up that you want $60 and under headphones, not $100 headphones and under.

I would suggest the SRH440 or the HTF600. I would avoid the HD448, it's built like a flimsy toy.

Very best,

Are the SRH440 and the HTF600 similar/about the same in terms of audio quality? I am not sure which one I would pick between the two..

What about the JVC HARX700/900 series?

Well SRH440 has a lot more flat response and HTF600 has significantly stronger bass and slightly rolled off highs compared to the Shures. Depends what you're looking for. I really like the HTF600 especially for mainstream pop songs as it handles the bass so well with its punchy bass and neutral/forward mids. I did mod mine slightly and EQ'd it very slightly to bring out slightly more treble though but it's not bad out of stock and was very close to how I want it to sound like, it's just my typical behavior of modding/EQing to perfection as I'm a little bit of perfectionist when it comes to tailoring the sound to my own taste.

Have you tried the JVC HARX700 and the Sennheiser HD 428? How do they compare to the HTF600? Do you know how they all three handle isolation, you know, riding the bus or walking around campus?

Unfortunaly haven't tried those. HTF600's isolation is quite poor as they are semi-closed with lots of openings at the back so they both let in and out a decent amount sound. SRH440 u mentioned earlier would have excellent isolation. HARX700 probably a bit better than HTF600 but not SRH440 levels. AKG K518 DJs is another cheap headphone with excellent isolation and quite good for the money, the only prob is the comfort which is very poor and soundstage is also quite poor.

Just to make your decision even harder, don't forget Superlux L3000.gif 668B, HD660. What i would do is pick one closed and one open, then experiment with another two down the line.

Two semi-open headphones

Panasonic RP-HTF600-S.

Samson SR850 (made by Superlux)

I own them both and they are great sound for the price.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Sennheiser HD428 now that's only $30.. Is that good? I read the audio is good and it has good noise isolation.. I'm sort of between that and the and the HARX700.. And I will check out the other recommendations...

P.S. Have no idea why first part is in bold..

Audio-Technica ATH-M35 also looks nice.. I just want something that sounds good and is good for isolation at a low cost..
