I've noticed that many of our chip makers have evaluation kit boards on some of the top DAC chips in the 300-500 dollar ranges. These boards normally come with usb and/or spdif in with rca and sometimes xlr balaned outs. they all seem to come with power transformers also. everything you need to demo one of their latest dacs. Besides building cases around these demo dacs is there anything else that should be done? anything recommended? I could save big money over what some of the retailers are charging.
