I have a pair of Sennheiser Electrostatic headphones - HE60 / HEV 70 - new in 1996.

They operate very well.

I recently noticed a small scuff (not a cut) on the outer edge of the HE60 cable which has removed a little bit of the outer plastic cover.  No underlying cable/wire is revealed but in that small area (say 3-4 sq mm) the plastic cover is less thick.

The flat cable has 6 wires running through it - I understand with the following roles: R+ / R bias / R- / L - / L bias / L+.

The scuff is next to the R+ cable.

As these headphones require a very high voltage to operate (400v dc) do you think they will be ok to use or should I have the cable replaced?
