Consider the HD600/650. Most people say they have a pretty good genre range and are still considered a top contender for the price range.

Not sure what the Australian dollar is equal to, but the HD650's can be had for about $335 U.S dollars and the HD600's less than that.

Hey Anton, if you're in Melbourne I suggest going to Addicted2Audio and audition a lot of headphones. Take a look at Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium (600 Ohm) and Sennheiser HD600. They're great cans and are freakishly close to the top tiers.

Hi Guys,

Total noob here so hope I can frame my questions intelligently.  I'm trying to decide between purchasing the Klipsch Image One or the Sennheiser HD518.  I spent some time trying out the Klipsch headphones and loved the bass and clear mids and highs but am concerned about comfort since I have larger ears.  Also I am partial to Sennheiser so I picked the HD518 based on the fact that it has a very similar frequency response to the Klipsch Image One (compared from headphone.com; sorry not sure how to insert link)  I'll be driving either unit with a Topping TP-30 so power is not a problem.  But my primary concern is if the frequency response curves are misleading in that the Sennheiser HD518 may lack "punch" in the bass because its an open design as opposed to the Klipsch Image 1 which has a closed/sealed design.  Your thoughts and feedback would be most greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

Denon 2000s at J&R on sale. Sennheiser HD650 and Fiio E10 or E9 amp. Would be a very decent starter set-up.
