EDIT: I completely missed the "Buying headphones" thread. Sorry for posting this! :(

==========================
Hi all, first post around here =)
I'm no experienced audiophile, but I do try to pay attention and do some research before I buy things =)
I checked the threads today and yesterday to see if this popped up, but Newegg has PC350's on sale for 100$ today.
Couldn't find any fairly straightforward comparison tables (As one would find in say, video cards), but I expect that's due to varying expectations and desires.
When I first looked for a good set of headphones, I came up with the moderately priced HD 485's, which have been miles better than most "common" headphones, as would most anything discussed here.
I enjoy that I hear the nuances of sound, and get a reasonable low end response, but I'm not after FEELING a lot of it. Especially with gaming, the clarity is important.
I'm on my second pair now, and I love them still.. But I run through microphones and mic cables like candy, not to mention I haven't modded a mic on permanently. Since I use voice chat whenever I use my computer, and a lot of my time is gaming, this is fairly important.
What I've read about the PC350's so far is that the closed headphones cramp on the quality a bit, and since they are a gaming headset the build quality isn't as good otherwise even if the drivers apparently belong to a higher end pair of cans (?). I'm willing to do a bit of modding, though I'm not entirely sure about the single-hole-with-baffle solution mentioned in another thread.
So, here's the TL;DR:
I have HD 485's, and they're still going strong.
I'm using a Audigy 2 card with kX drivers and no amp.
The convenience of a built-in mic and the assumption that closed headphones will help with external noise (I'm in a constantly not-quiet environment) is appealing.
Primarily for gaming and voice chat, will the PC 350's work well - yet still be able to deliver a good... "Concise" musical experience?
Thanks for reading and for your opinions!
EDIT: I forgot about my amp questions!
As mentioned, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and HD485's. So far as I have read here, a good amp will almost always improve the experience with full-sized cans. Should have I have one for the HD485s, and would I need them for the PC350's? If so, what would I be missing if I didn't have one?
Thanks again =)
