It's Like UNIVERSAL IEM Deja vu!!! Journey into universal IEMs when I thought I was done... - Page 7

Another quick update: The Fiio E10 is just incredible - especially connected to the E9 amp. The E10 is nice on its own, but bests the E7/E9 combo my miles. The E10/E9 combinations is simply outstanding. So the synergy with the W4, FXT90, GRO7 and TF10 is remarkable with the E10. The synergy, however, is just fantastic and nothing short of amazing between the E10 and the FA-011 headphone.

Let's go back to the TF10. The E10 cleans the TF10 up nicely. The TF10 has more bass quantity than the W4 through the E10 (if I said opposite earlier I was wrong). Yet, the W4 maintains greater bass qulaity. Treble is little better and more extended in the TF10 than in the W4, but the Westone still maintains better mids and clearer micro details. The W4 still has the better instrument separation and wider soundstage. The mids of the TF10 (this one anyway) is not recessed, but the W4's mids are more forward in comparison. Vocals are quite better in the W4. The vocals sound a bit grainy in the TF10 in comparison. The W4 is warmer.

As I said a few posts earlier, I do hear a lot of potential in the TF10 now. I can tell an upgrade cable will really make it shine, but TF10 probably benefits from a good DAC and amplifier than any of my other IEMs. Happy listening..beerchug.gif

Sure, I would just return it....unless you want to be generous to a head-fier... On the other hand, maybe a head-fier wants to give you a little extra since they missed the sales, and tip you for your efforts in getting packing materials and taking the time to mail it to them. But I would let the head-fier offer that. You are still doing them a big favor if they really want the tf10 but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars more for it. So I see this both ways.

Nice to see you are enjoying your TF10 buddy !, so would you agree with me in saying that the tf10 has a harder hitting mid/upper bass than the w4 ,while the w4 has greater sub bass presence than the TF10 ? .

I will have to listen again buddy to determine the great sub-bass. All I can say right now is that the TF10 has more quantity in bass, while the W4 has more clarity. The quantity of bass, however, in the TF10 is not that much more than the W4 (if you get a really good deep seal).

I Agree that the both the tf10 and w4 have a similar quantity off bass and that the amount is plentiful ,i just feel that the w4 has a more even slit of sub bass /mid bass ,and that the tf10 leans more to the mid / upper bass ,not that it matters that much to me ,both are fantastic sounding iem's and the tf10 really scales up well when paired with my amp set up .L3000.gif

Okay, you are right buddy @ luco... W4 has more sub-bass, but TF10 has more quantity (but not sub).. Both basses are excellent but very different.... W4 still have the clearer bass...

Not a bad price, I could live with something like that. Any ideas for a portable amp?

I hear the Fiio E11 is nice, but I haven't heard it.

The Fiio E11 is fine but I feel its a little overrated. Maybe its just I'm not needing its juice. For iems though, the E6 is fun, adds a little oomp, and is really cheap. Fun little option.

I think I'd be willing to spend $120 on a good portable amp. I'm going to recable my TF10s after Christmas as well as my IE8s or IE80s (I'll pay any difference if they allow that) depending on what I get sent back after warranty coverage (Right ear got quiet frown.gif). I want to get the most possible out of both these IEMs.
