I have a pair of headphone, DAC/Amp, and all the songs in FLAC or ALAC. What's next?

So unfortunately I am still a beginner in this field.  I have a system that I am pretty happy with, but not satisfied (you can see it in my signature).  What should I buy/do to further enhance the sound?  I need to get around to installing J$ on my Pro 900's but if there is things like equalizer or preamp that will drastically improve the sound please let me know.  It'll be great if it enhances the vocals because the vocals on my Pro 900's seems to be a little weak compared to its highs and bass.

Maybe you don't like the sound signature of your headphone, or maybe you should change your amp/dac or both,lol.

 

Hard to answer such question. Pro900 doesn't need a big amp, but with a good amp it ll be better, but not day and night.

Well, measurement in different places I've seen of the Pro900 indicate that yes, it has louder bass and treble compared to the midrange.  You can try setting up an EQ in software to bring down the bass and treble.  Or different headphones.

 

Or maybe you're just looking for different music.  Unless your amp is not really compatible with your headphones in some sense (and the Pro900 really shouldn't be picky compared to others), or the DAC or amp is doing something funny, the headphones and the music mostly all determine how it's going to sound.  I would avoid wild goose chase hunting for different gear to try at this point unless you have a money tree growing in your backyard.
