Huh? I said I could ABX between them, it just wasn't a significant enough a difference for me to want to go through my entire music collection and FLACify it.

To me the difference is enough. the background hiss. the artifacts. the vocals that aren't as seperated and as high during those super jam moments when the song really gets rolling. stuff like that. and sorry man. thougth i saw an "can't" instead of a "can"

so..are the majority of 320's...disease to the ears? absolutley not. other than the small differences i stated. when you are going to work or class...you will not notice them, they will sound just fine.(again, the majority of MP3's have these background sound and not as high and seperated vocals, fine for normal use, but there are those special ones...that just plain suck) however,...want best sound? FLAC

Okay. Good. Plus, I'm ordering the CD so I think I should be fine. Just need to look for something that can rip to MP3 320kb, FLAC, or WAV. I know x264 is a video encoder but can it do sound? And if it does, does it do it good?

many people use Exact Audio Copy

however...i just use itunes :/ I use it to encode into ALAC. if i want a flac. i use dbpoweramp to re encode it into a flac...and since they are both lossless, they will have no quality loss. if you want MP3...dbpoweramp can also do it. itunes also has an AAC, and MP3 encoder. is it any good? haven't used it. but sine it's in itunes it should be good.

 

so yeah. tools of the trade for me:

that's it basically, i asked this question on sound science and got many  professional replies. unless you hear something wrong...any one of them works. all the encoders in itunes are top quality btw. it seems EAC doesn't do AAC's well at all after surfing around the web. so yeah. if you use FLAC's and like to be sure. just go with EAC

Yeah, I don't have it, but I also heard it wasn't user friendly :/ I'll stick with iTunes for now. My AIFF and ALAC files are all I need.

LOL yes, it is VERY un-user friendly. It is not fun to set up at all.

Tested wtih both Shure SRH 440 STudio and HFI 580 through 2010 MAcbook pro. I hear no metallic pops from clipping, or over excursion from needign too much power(my headphones don't require muchpower)

 

 



The problem is a lot less pronounced in the non-Yui version, I can barely hear it (and probably wouldn't hear it at all if I hadn't been intensively listening for it)..

Eva, cowboy bebop, full metal alchemist(original), Xam'd, and Metropolis are some of my favorites. Every single Miyazaki film ost ai like as well. The ones by Joe Hisaishi at least. Also anything with Shiro Sagisu. Oh! And the gundam wing osts.

I can't hear it through my Mac. Or anything for that matter on either my Shure's or Ultrasone's at that part. I haven't listened to the whole song so there might be other parts that might have that problem..but I wouldn't notice, since i only tried those parts
