Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-3 - Page 15

Thanks Solude, for the "stack-o-Schitt" advice. I am looking for a desktop rig.

Maybe someone will bring theirs to the next local meet. I'll bring my Soloist to compare.

I hope the local market keeps growing. There's a lot of us on Head-Fi. It's great to see Charles at Headfoneshop growing along with it. It won't be long until he's into some Schiit too.

Cheers

I'm from Toronto and have ordered from headphonebar multiple times. Their ship times are fast and rates are very reasonable (some items ship free). Still a better option than ordering from Schiit since you may get hit hard by customs.

Sometimes it's funny when you re-read your own posts. Their meaning can sometimes be be read differently by someone else.

Sorry Seraguie. I think we were being nice, though a bit off-topic.
Cheers

I think the Burson Soloist and Schiit Mjolnir are the two best amps for the LCD-3 in the sub-1K category.

Thanks for your note ariesq. My experience with headphonebar was not as good as yours, so I'd rather not deal with them.

Schiit sells direct. I like that option. I'll also consider buying directly from other US sources in the future, such as Audeze.

Of course there would always be the HST to pay, but no brokerage charge to collect it if you use FedEx or UPS express shipping, and no duty on goods made in the States. That's no more painful than ordering from B.C. and probably delivered faster too ;-)

Sorry if I read it wrong, I did see that at the end you folks were bantering.  I just seized the opportunity to say Holy Schiit!  tongue_smile.gif

Agreed, though VERY different sounding.  Like stone cold deaf not to hear the differences, different :D

There seems to be a lot more people using the schiit lyr then the pan am.

I found the distributor for schiit in HK need to give them a call later.

Sadly I can't find anywhere that has a lyr or a pan am in to demo.

I have yet to find many detailed reviews of the Pan am. I did find one but its sponsored if you will.
The lyr is also cheaper not that is my worry. I am happy to spend more if i can notice the difference.
Also tubes are dead easy to get hear :)

I have listened to the LCD-3 with my Schiit Lyr. While the Lyr is a great performer for its price, it simply doesn't do enough justice to the LCD-3. I no longer have the LCD-3, but it worked far, far better with a Schiit Mjolnir (on loan). If you're considering the Lyr, I strongly recommend you stretch your budget a little more and go for the Mjonlir. You won't regret it.

Price is not the factor sadly.

Space is I just don't have the room, units in Hong Kong are stupidly small and given the price of them I won't be buying a bigger one any time soon :D
The Mjolnir is close to twice as wide, the Lyr at 9" wide is already a little to big but i can make it work..

I have the same problem as undersys as I have very little room t work with, my B22 is too big that is why it's sitting in storage.

I'm looking at Ray Samuel's Emmeline II "The Raptor," now that is a footprint I can live with and store the power supply nearby. RS doesn't publish a lot of specs but I wonder how the LCD3 will sound with it, or am I better off with HD800.
