Headphones for rock, metal and jazz similar to Sennheiser HD 448 but with more "punchy" bass

Hi,

My first post! Been lurking for a few weeks now and already used the search function. However, I am still undecided and a bit overwhelmed with all the options, so I decided to finally post a question.

I mostly listen to rock, indie, metal, and (less frequently) jazz and classical music (symphonies). Favorite bands include Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Pixies, Pantera, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Rollins Band, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews Band. I currently own the Sennheiser HD 448, which I love for their clarity and balanced sound. Not sure how to describe it, but they emphasize the guitars in a way that I really like. I also find them extremely comfortable. However, they miss a bit of "punch" in the lower frequencies. I also have the Koss KSC 75, which I often prefer over the HD 448 for harder stuff, as they are more "fun". But their bass is very muddy and they miss the clarity and details of the HD 448. I also listened to the Sennheiser HD 202, which I didn't like. They made my head hurt after 30min, as their bass is too powerful and too narrow for my taste.

I am now looking for a new full-size or on-ear headphone that has the clarity and details of the HD 448 but with a more "punchy" bass and the fun-factor of the KSC 75 (if that makes sense). My budget is around $100. They can be open or closed. I am only using them at home and any style is fine, as long as they are not IEMs.

After reading tons of reviews, I thought the Grados SR 60i or SR 80i would be perfect for me. But now that prices for other headphones (especially Sennheisers) came down, I am also considering the Sennheiser HD 518. They are in Headroom's "Top Ten" list, they have a similar frequency response than the Grados, and their design is similar to the HD 448, which means they could be equally comfortable. Searching this board, I also found recommendations for Sony MDR-V6, Audio Technica ATH M50, and Shure SRH440. But I am not sure if I should invest in a closed headphone if I don't necessarily need the sound isolation (and I am keeping the HD 448).

So many options, so difficult to decide... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Did more research. I still couldn't find a direct comparison between the Grados and the Sennheiser HD 518, but it seems that the Grados are THE headphone for my music taste and something I can't go wrong with. So the Grado SR60i it is, unless someone has a better recommendation?
