Great guide and finally made me sign up, because you had to be a member to download. 

From what i have read on this forum on the fiio e9 it would seem like the perfect gift. Great performance with most headphones and it wont devastate your wallet. Maybe include the HRT music streamer II as a good price vs performance dac

Include some of HRT's products Jude! Also I have found that the Denon AH-D7000 is a great headphone and should be included in your list :)
