New home setup. Please help with my choice.

Hi there

I have read this forum and the review in the main web for a very long time and it is a great source for information which is always accurate.

Today i decide finally to make a registration. I have a big doubt what to buy for my home setup. The room is about 30m2 and i have only 1 wall that they will stand in front and very close to the wall. So the TV led in the middle one speaker on the left one on the right about 3,5 meters from left to right speaker. First of all the i have about 1500Euro for this project, and one sample rule the sound to be more soften as possible. So i decide to buy harman/kardon HK 980 stereo amplifier and pair of JBL ES 80 or older one JBL E 80.

My questions are:

is that a good choice for this situation or what you will suggest ? i can buy and second hand speakers or amplifier it is not a problem

i really do not know which speakers and amplifier to buy it is so hard and i do not have time to start from one shop to other and listen and mainly because where i live i do not have a good shop where i can listen other stuffs.

It is much appreciated if you can assist and help .

Best Regards

D.D

The ES80 is a pretty good low-budget speaker, and stands up well against competitors at the same price point (including a lot of the internet direct stuff).... But I much prefer the next step up in their line, the JBL L880. If you want to stick with the price point of the ES80, I'd suggest the Infinity P362 as a more refined alternative. Infinity (and JBL, both part of Harman) has gotten a bad name over the years for offering a lot of compromised products aimed at big-box distribution. There is truth to that, but they do have a bunch of very good products. The 362 in particular is a real standout at its price point and a bit above, it is very neutral and balanced, decent dynamics and not hard to drive.

FYI, the P362 has been replaced by the nearly identical P363, there are still clearance 362's available around, though.
