I feel every few weeks a pain in my ears, and it takes a week for it to go away and thats with me not listening to my IEM's each night. Anyway to prevent this?

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

Dig them ear wax(ii) out, but don't do it too often or you'll irritate the skin inside.
But it could be some sort of allergic reaction to dust/dirt.
In that case, practise good hygiene.
In any case, you have got to do see a doctor or a specialist.
They'll give you the proper advice and meds if needed.
Maybe they'll do syringing on you :0

Maybe try hydrogen peroxide. I use it every so often to clear out wax. It is an antiseptic, so it might help.
On the outside, I like to clean with witch hazel. $1.50 at the drugstore and works well. I wouldn't recommend pouring it into your ears without a doctor signing off.

Won't hydrogen peroxide worsen an inflammation? It'll corrode your skin and leave a very rough texture. Iodine isn't recommended either as it increases healing time and may cause scar tissues to form. You may want to try potassium permanganate but it stings really bad.
Edit: In hindsight, putting kmno4 in your ear probably isn't a very good idea.

Any topical ointment and cleaning to kill bacteria (assuming the pimple is accessible) should help things along. They can take many months to clear up.

Thanks guys, ill look into cleaning out my ears with HP 2-3 times a week.
No offense to any of the head-fiers that posted possible solutions, I really don't think you should just try what people tell you based on your short description of your problem. Yes, one of them might work, but what if it doesn't? No one but you are responsible for following directions from non-medical professionals. There are a lot of diseases and infections where the signs and symptoms are so very similar that people have tendency to think whatever one they had and whatever solution worked for them would work for the next person. =/
Also, no there is no such thing as universal antibiotics. Using one that doesn't completely kill the bacterial infection (if it is) would only make the bacteria more resistant, hence making them more difficult to treat later on.
Hey, they're your ears. Do what you want to do with them, but that's my 2 cents.
