Sci-Fi "audio experience" suit/armor - any ideas on details?

Hey everyone!

First time poster here so I hope I'm doing this correctly.

I'm designing a character (similar to game character design) and I've finished up most of the character and I'm just working on the details. I was thinking for the details I'd use an audio theme. I've seen some anime character designs with girls wearing what I can only describe as audio suits. Huge headphones, speakers on the body, all that jazz. I thought for such a project what better place to ask then a forum of professionals on the subject?

So what I was wondering was if you guys had any good pictures/reference to products that you use/like that have details I could use. Anything like buttons/knobs/sliders/dials/jacks/everything under the sun. Basically any cool looking audio device (doesn't only have to be headphones can be amps, speakers, anything in your setup really) Any and all images would be incredibly helpful!

Also anything that looks like it has a strong build quality and good mechanical manufacturing. It doesn't have to be fully covered up with plastics because if the mechanical parts are showing it can add to the "sci-fi" of it.

Here's a few images so you can kinda see where I'm taking this:

Here's a shot of the body:

Anyways guys thanks a ton for all the help and take care!

Looks interesting. Try taking a look at the Colorfly dap and the Skullcandy Aviators

We have a member who wears headphones, er, inappropriately.

Maybe it would be better not to bring that up.

Anyhow, how about one of those military-style sound cannons?

Edit: You should change the ear covering speakers to something like the AKG K-1000. Have them swing out. Hardcore headphone geeks will notice and love it.

Needs VU meters, EQ sliders, metallic buttons, speaker cones without grilles, rack handles, toggle switches, indicator lights...  The dials don't quite read as such right now - maybe have numbered markings or wraparound taper art. Sorry I can't provide useful images right now since I'm on a mobile device, but there are some good "show us your equipment set up" threads in a couple other forums that have tons of great photos.  The DIY forum also has a project gallery thread that can be useful.

Nice work.

Hey guys thanks for all the great tips!

@nc8000 - thanks for the ref the Colorfly dap had a few good parts to use!

@Uncle Erik - haha yeah XD. I love the idea of a sonic weapon  I'm looking for a few good pics of that right now. THe K1000 idea would be cool idea but it would force me to do a redesign of the helmet so it's a bit late in the work stage for that =(

@ardgedee - This is suppppper helpful thanks so much for the list. I have each of the things you mentioned up in tabs and I also have the "show us your current setup" and the "diy gallery" up as well. This stuff is gold thank you so much I can stretch what you've given me so far!

@Head Injury - Haha I'm actually gonna try that and see how it looks it'll make the character unique. And if it doesn't work there is a huge circular area on her back to allow for that as wellXD. Thanks for the idea!
