Decorating Your Listening Station? (What do you have)

So I've been thinking about things that I want to hang over my listening station for awhile now and I've decided what I want but I'm wondering what the rest of Head-Fi decorates with? I've seen some impressive stuff around the various 'Pics of your Setup' threads so I know it's out there.

Just to be fair here's what I plan on doing as of now.

For one...I'll be buying one of the Massive Attack / Burial collaboration vinyl. I'll be framing that gorgeous 180 gram vinyl and hanging it. I'll probably be framing the 2 collaborations Burial did with Four Tet & Thom Yorke too but those are a little less spectacular. wink.gif

i really don't have anything on my walls picture wise or any type of albums. all i have is 2'' thick carpet on my floor, ceiling and walls as room treatment. does that count?

Anything around your actual listening station? I used to keep my collection of anime figures pretty close (until I recently moved :D )

I have... a load of CDs, a random Memory Stick Pro Duo, a can of Lynx deodorant, a glasses case, a screwdriver and an old Blu-Ray drive from a 60GB PS3. Not purty! rolleyes.gif I usually let my room accumulate several months of junk until I just can't take it anymore and throw almost everything out.

Paper everywhere, and some computers and parts and some electronics supplies and crates of books I still have to organize and shelve, and a couple desk lamps. My office doubles as my listening room and fortunately there's room for a lounge chair too. Evenings are for relaxing while listening. With my eyes closed. But I should really neaten things up.

I have a lava lamp i picked up at a thrift shop this past summer. I also have some horror figures by Mcfarlane based on offshoot characters from Clive Barker's HELLRAISER comic books and novels standing next to some miniture tombstones i got a year ago for Halloween. I also have a MORROWIND ordinator metal miniture from the collectors edition of the game i've had since 2002.

An HP TouchPad resides next to my laptop usually, illuminated by a nice small row of LED lights. Occasionally, there'll be a couple drawings or an old megablocks (I think?) replica of an Aegis next to it, moved due to cleaning up or whatnot. Oh and a nice leather chair to sit and listen in comfortably.

I have two signed Roger Hilton prints bookending my setup.

Hilton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Hilton) was a British postwar abstractionist painter. His works are displayed at the Tate and a few other museums.

I got horribly lucky - they were at the local Salvation Army shop, nicely framed and matted. One was $3 and the other $2.

Though they're worth a few hundred each, I love having a recognized artist in the house. These are instant heirlooms; I'll pass them on to my niece who appreciates fine art.

I recently had a friend of the family (who happens to be an amazing painter) ask if I wanted any of his prints. I picked a few out and was excited to frame them and put them on my walls.

A few days later I receive 2 original paintings frames and all. I was stunned. They haven't been hung yet but I'll be hanging one close to my listening station (a massive, gorgeous landscape painting) once I get it reframed.

A friend of mine got out of the software profession and into photography around the same time I was getting out of the graphic arts profession and into software. I've considered offering to swap prints, because he's been doing some striking stuff lately, but I can't put any holes in the wall of my current residence so hanging things will have to wait.

I don't like my own photos on display at home. I can only think about what I did wrong and what I should have done instead.

I've got a bunch of little Vocaloid figures mixed in with a few anime ones.

Unfortunately, they don't add anything to the listening experience, as I've had them for so long that they're invisible to me now.

I have a couple of signed CD's that I should probably get around to hanging or something, it would serve as a good reminder of how much I really liked these singers in one point in time.

!

I've found a lot of overlap with Head-Fi'ers, but this is amazing.

When I found the prints, I just knew they weren't run-of-the-mill stuff and shelled out $5 without hesitation. I was delighted when I found out they were from a recognized artist.

Sooner or later, I'll pick up a few more Hilton prints. He's grown on me. smily_headphones1.gif

I hope you enjoy him, too!
