Best closed back headphones?

Thread Starter

I know this has been asked before, but all of the similar threads I've found just couldn't tell me what I wanted to know.

I've never had a decent pair of headphones. I need closed back because I will be using them in areas with other people (I plan on eventually getting a pair of Sennheiser 598's for use in my home).

I've been looking at the Ultrasone HFI-780 and the PRO 650. I'm leaning more towards the HFI-780 because i read it does just fine without an amp. My source will be my android phone.

Can anyone provide me with any more information or some suggestions?

If it matters, i listen to rock and metal (stuff like Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet for my Valentine).

Thanks! biggrin.gif

Heya,

The HFI 780's would be good for your genres and play from your phone.

Depending on your budget, however, I'd probably put you on the PRO 750 instead for a better soundstage, more comfort, and sweeter look. Other headphones that may interest you: Fischer Audio FA-003, Shure SRH440 & SRH840, Beyer Dynamic DT770, Vmoda M80, AudioTechnica ESW9, maybe even a used Denon D2000.

Very best,

Will the PRO 750's be fine without and amp though? I can definately afford them, I have to stay under $300. I can get the PRO 750's on amazon for $250.

Heya,

Low impedance, and normal sensitivity. They'll play without an amp fine.

If you're interested in used, here's a pair for $155.

Very best,
