Amplification for the LCD-2 v1 .. - which would be better Schiit Lyr vs Audio-GD C-2.1

I'm looking at two potential amps to drive my LCD-2 Version 1 headphones (and possibly to also drive my AKG K-1000 headphones.

I've narrowed it down to two amps:  The heavily reviewed and recommended Schiit Lyr with its 6 watt into 32 ohms output power.

Or the older Audio-GD C-2.1 amp/preamp which is an 18 watt Class A amp.  I'm leaning towards the Audio G-D, but am looking

for some help here. As stated it is primarily for my Audeaze LCD-2, but I am also hoping that it would provide enough power to drive

my AKG K-1000 headphones, and aother dynamic headphones I also have (see my profile).

Any help, recommendations and comments would be be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea about the Audio-GD C-2.1 but can tell you that the Lyr effortlessly drives the LCD-2r1s. I used a pair of Genalex Gold Lions in the Lyr and it was a great match. Volume is definitely not an issue, dynamics very good and all frequencies seemingly  covered with equal authority. It's incredible value for the money.

Good luck with your decision making.

I've never hear either amp you refer to. However I have both headphones, Balanced,  and I drive them with a WA22. The LCD-2 runs beautifully at 30% volume and the K1000 at 70%. I'm using Sylvania 7236 power tubes which give me 2w. Both sound great.

I have the lcd2 rev1/lyr combo and am very satisfied with the pairing.

I would like to add that the lyr pushes my k701's nicely as well. I know the k1000 is a different animal but i saw on your profile you have an assortment of akg cans.

I really like my WA22 / LCD-2 r2 (now sold) and LCD-3 combos. But, I wasn't a huge fan with the LCD-2 rev. 1 / WA22. A bit too euphonic to my ears (even with the more SS sounding Syl. 7236s).

The Lyr+LCD-2 (rev. 1 or rev. 2) is really good, BUT with the LCD-2 rev. 2 and LCD-3s, I prefer the WA22.

There's a wealth of information here, especially in the earlier parts of the thread. It's a long read, but I hope it helps.
