Already have a nice Cowon J3 - is it *REALLY* worth buying a HiFiMan 801? - Page 2

Mmmm..

I'm still sitting on the fence, on this one.

Haven't yet received my Miracles (I'm hoping last week before Xmas, but am resigned to it possibly being after Xmas), so I can't do any auditioning of higher-end sources until I've got them in-hand.

I might pop down to London and pay AmpCity a visit, since as well as (ironically) being the company I purchased my UM M's from, they appear to be the only proper agent of HiFiMan in the UK.

In the meantime, I'm hoping an '802' or similar may not be too far away, though knowing how long products take to develop, I'm not going to hold my breath on that one rolleyes.gif

Thanks again for your input (I have made the effort to hunt around the relevant Colorfly/HM801/HM601/2 posts in the 'archives', here on Head-Fi, BTW)

Please don't sit on the fence - if the world economy needs anything right now, it needs consumer confidence. Let's show the lollygaggers how its done, Mython !

You're speaking to a man who was told it would take SEVEN DAYS for Barclays Bank to clear a cheque I paid in this afternoon - wanna hear the 'joke' of that? The cheque is a tax rebate! What, so the banks don't trust the tax office now?!?! LOL!

(I'm laughing but I'm actually thoroughly pissed-off with the bank - if I lived in Sweden, I could pay a cheque in, in the morning, and I could withdraw the cash by the afternoon of the SAME day).

Sitting on this fence may be giving me a sore arse but I'm in no position to move! blink.gif

I guess the pessimists would tell you that Barclays need to hang onto cheques for seven days so that they can include those amounts on their balance sheets .......

OT, but if the French banks go under, we can forget about audio - it will be soup kitchens and food stamps.

In my opinion, the 801 is just too much for portable use. As the T59 is coming in 2012, I would wait for that and see how it goes.

Agree that the 801 is more 'transportable' than portable, but I see no problem with a Clip+ or similar as a cheap, throwaway portable and the 801 as your bedside table solution.
