Headphone amp for Pro 900's?

Sup guys?

I currently have a set of Pro 900s running straight off an ipod nano. I think I want to invest in a portable headphone amp but I have some questions about them.

First, will a headphone amp make the sound much cleaner? (because I am getting some distortion at high volume levels as it is)

Second, should I get one?

Third, What kind of amp do you guys recommend?

Thanks

For a pro 900 most certainly, it will clean up the sound and your distortion will go along with it.

As for amps id start off with a fiio e11 or a cmoy along with a decent lod cable.

I'll be receiving a set of Pro 900 tomorrow and I have an iBasso D6 on the way. I'll post whether or not it is worth it once I get them. :P

Interesting, the D4 and D10 are meant to be very good.

Personally i have my heart set on a D12 for my 900's

dang i was looking for something a little cheaper, maybe the e11, whats the difference between the e1 the e5 and the e11, just more power and better sound quality?

Pretty much, with the pro 900's id avoid the e1/e5 and head straight for the e11, that'll drive them nicely.

I have Pro 900 running from a Sansa Clip+ (Rockboxed). Coming out of the Clip+ I don't notice any distortion. Though, that is probably due to the ruler flat frequency response offered. Anyways, I dunno why I'm going on about the source haha. Check out the PA2V2. www.electric-avenues.com

It isn't amazing but for $60 bucks it's quite impressive. I definitely notice a difference and it carries a heavy punch which goes nicely with the Pro 900.

I am selling my Pro 900, however. I want a flat FR.

X2 the e11 works very well with the pro 900 with tones of power and 2 decent bass boost settings and by using a line out cable rather than a 3.5 to 3.5  cable from your ipod you will bypass the headphone out socket and not get the distortion.beyersmile.png
