Need help choosing new open headphone

Christmas is upcoming and I would really like to purchased an open pair of headphones. I have a pair of TF10s and a PA2v2 amp, I would really like to use the new set of cans for portable use with an amp also. I am having a hard time deciding which pair to get though, I REALLY love the sound signature of the TF10s, tight bass, great mids, and airy highs, I am looking for a pair of cans that will sound similar to this. I was looking into maybe the Fisher Audio FA-011 or some thing by Beyerdynamic. I am looking for a set of cans that will sound familiar to the tf10 but with just alittle more bass. I also need some amp recommendations for the new set of headphones.

Thanks,

Danny

I asked this question a long time ago and people recommended the Shure 840.  I have never heard the 840 though so I can't comment.  For myself personally, I really like the Grado 325, I think it sounds similar to the TF10, hot treble, good bass, airy soundstage.  It's pretty easy to drive I've just been using a pretty basic setup first the Fiio E9i, and now the little dot hybrid tube amp

Get the FA-011.

Or, even better, get the FA-002 woodback (light breech is only $207 I think).

Very best,

Anything like the Fiio E7, E11, ibasso ZERO, PA2V2, etc.

And here's the FA-002W Breech.

Very best,

Portable and powerful do not really go together. Those are well more powerful enough than your needs. Just don't get an insensitive and high impedance headphone (high impedance being greater than 300ohms, and insensitive being less than 93db/mW perhaps).

Search the "portable" threads for amps that suit your needs... this is the fullsize Headphone forum.

Very best,
