Recabling SR60 - can anyone help?

Hello everybody!

I have a pair of Grado SR60 that has served me very well since the day that I bought them. However about a year ago they broke at the "Y" and ended up getting a bad connection which made the sound come and go. First in one side, then the other. Fortunately I have a friend that managed to open up the plastic "Y-junction" and re-solder the cables in there so that it started working again, and I've been keeping it alive by taping and re-taping to protect the soldering. He didn't have a suitable shrinktube at the time so unfortunately I had to do without.

Now I have another bad connection further down from the Y-junction on the cable, so I am considering getting it recabled, but I don't really know where to turn to have it done. Since the headphones themselves are still in great condition and sounding wonderful I feel it would be a shame to throw them away.

My question now is if there is someone in this forum that would be willing to help me do a quality recabling of these headphones. No need to use super extravagant cabling, plug etc. but it would be nice if it could be done in a fashion that it will be more durable than the original cable.

I would prefer it if the person doing it is situated in Scandinavia for the sake of postage (I'm in Sweden). Please give me a quote how much money you would want for material and work to help me fix my headphones.

Looking forward to hearing from you. PM me or comment in the thread.

Best regards,

Grado Lover.

If you can get a hold of a soldering iron and some wire, they are a fairly easy to do job :) They were actually my first soldering experience, and I couldn't have been happier when I got them done. There are a million guides on this in Head-fi, so pick your poison. If you want a recable done by someone else though, I know Chris_Himself does good work, try contacting him about it.
