Correct settings for running line output to amp from DAC?

I've always wonderd about this....

 

My portable setup,

 

Laptop ---> Fiio E7 DAC ----> JDS Labs cMoy ---> Denon ahd2000's.

 

When adjusting volume, what would be the correct procedure for max SQ?

 

Should I set windows output to max, FIIO to Max and adjust sound via the cMoy?

Problem with using the fiio e7 running to the cmoy is you would be double amping. The only way to bypass the internal amp of the e7 is to use the e9 doc. Truthfully the e10 would have been a better route to take as there is a way to bypass the internal amp. Are you just not getting enough volume out of the e7 that you are having to double amp the signal?
