Keep Captivate or... - Page 2

Cyanogen nightly builds are awesome. They have the potential to be unstable, but it's easy to fix a faulty Rom by flashing one that works properly.

Also stock music player is garbage LOL.

I'm running Apex 11 on my phone with Poweramp and voodoo,  I usually leave data disabled so I can only receive text messages and calls, and enable it whenever I check my email or surf the internet.

After full days of listening to music, phone calls, text messages and the occasional email and internet browsing I always have about 40-50 percent left when I get home. Only time I ever ran out of battery was on a 14 hour flight, non stop music, probably didn't have a full charge to begin with.

Also, my friend broke his captivate screen out of warranty, and hes getting his friends iPhone as a replacement, so hes giving me his battery for free. biggrin.gif

How does Apex 11 compare to CM 7.1?

I haven't had CM7 for awhile now, but I remember the battery life being a little better when using data on apex. Speed and smoothness are the same, I kinda like touchwiz too.

I'm flashing CM7 right now though, giving it a go.

Also, what kind of format do you use on your captivate. I convert all my FLAC to 320 mp3, is there something that would take up less space but not sacrifice any significant sound quality?

Most of my files are VBR2, so around 192~206kbps. Some 320. Some 128.

Does Apex 11 have DSP manger, or notification power widgets?

It does have notification power widgets, no DSP manager though.

Considered the Sansa Clip+?

Having previously had the Captivate, I know it has a horrible battery life, and sounds quite average, that said, I did not have the Voodoo application when I had it.

People talk about amps as magical sound quality-increasing pieces of hardware when the true purpose of them is to supply enough juice to difficult to drive equipment.

Oh as an FYI, I don't have a contract on my phone, nor even a simcard. Using it as a dedicated PMP with moderate wifi use, I get 16-20 hours worth of use on the stock 1500mAh battery.

A phone being able to drive HD650s? I think you're getting it idea mixed up.

The phone may be able to "drive" HD650s to loud volumes, but that doesn't mean it will "drive" it to it's potential, where the detail and sparkle comes out.

I have, my friend just got one.

I'm more than happy with my captivate now I have an extra battery and a 32gb sd. My single battery lasts quite a while actually(A full days use, easily) , and voodoo changes the quality tremendously.

I'm running the ICS alpha 1 right now, fairly decent, still a little choppy but everything works. Supports overclocking and voodoo as well.

Volume is volume, making this statement factually incorrect. Any loss of sparkle is placebo.

I finally got around to installing Voodoo and am using Winamp, oh man this sound blows my Sony Walkmen mp3 player away, I am using it with Sennheiser HD-25 II and yeah they drive them better then the walkmen did, if I bump up the amp in voodoo all the way it goes way beyond what my walkmen can do, for example some older punk albums like Black Flag I can now listen to at decent volumes...

Is there any point in getting the Pro Voodoo besides supporting the devs? I also have used the Sansa Fuze, this is better then that also...

Btw XanderTJ, that volume rocker hack, how does that work? I am on the Andromeda3 rom if that matters...
