Like I said, the reality is that without a good seal, even 200 hours of burn in probably won't matter much because you won't get a proper seal.

I should add that at the moment I listen to my 9927s out of a C&C BH which really opens up the soundstage and give me the option for a bass boost, though 90% of the time I don't feel that it's needed. 

 

How are you wearing them? I find that I can only get a proper fit when they go over the ear with the fin turned up, then it's like a glove.

The IEMs actually become significantly bassier and fuller when amped. Tried this with my Sansa Clip+ versus my O2.

i ordered a bunch of earphones of Monoprice to see if i could find one my daughter might like. She broke all the spares i had laying around so I wanted something CHEAP! when the package came, I tried each of them out to see if any I might want to keep lol. Only one i liked was the 9980, i tried the 8320 and it sounded like crap, with no base and just tinny..

 

well, when I started reading this thread, someone posted up the correct way to wear these things! I had them upside down with the cable pointing to the ground. Since I got NO seal at all the other way, they sounded horrible. When I wore them the correct way, OMG, I was blown away! They are awesome!

 

Funny thing is these things fit like they were made for my ears. When I put them in, I have to fight to get them to come out, they fit too perfectly. Now I have to find some better tips and work on my soldering skills to replace that aweful chord!

+1 They can really benefit from amping. Sound great out of my C&C BH. For lawlz I had tried it with my Magni/Modi. I thought it would just buzz at me, but it sounded fantastic.

Of course I'm exaggerating when I say a nonexistent bass but still they sound VERY shy on bass. Not a bad seal thin just thin like if they are supposed to sound like this. I don't think I'm experiencing a bad fit even though I don't have to fight to take them off like someone said. I'm wearing them over the ear.

You have a bad seal. These IEM do have plenty of bass. They arent bass head IEM but they still are a little much in my opinion. That's coming out of a clip zip and a rk3066 tablet ( I have no idea what the DAC/amp is in this thing but it has mad power, is pretty hi resolution and handles 24bit music. Its kinda noisy though)

I think it has a lot to do with what you are used to hearing... over exagerated bass or more of a live performance... I do agree that it lacks sub bass but that is mostly felt anyways not necassarilly heard

Probably, I just wasn't expecting this... I tried various IEMs rated as balanced or midcentric and this is definitely very 'cold' in the lows.

+1. The seal is the main issue-and it isn't always easy to tell whether it is sealing or not.

This is so true, and with ALL iem's. For instance, if I don't have my GR07BassEditions sealed properly, I could think that they don't "have enough bass". But get them shoved in with the proper seal, and oh momma.. bass bliss...

I find the easiest thing to do it push them in while listening-if SQ improves, you didn't have a good seal-also...get some Complys. If they don't help your SQ, it was an upgrade in comfort. If they don't help either, well, it was a fun $20 experiment.

The Complys are foam, right? If so, foam bugs my ears (itchy) after a while...

make ear molds... cant get a better seal than filling in the void thats the shape of your own ear..  and its very easy to do..
