The fx30 were the first "better" iems I used.

I was in love with the sound. Then I heard better headphones and hated the marshmallows for the incomplete sound and lack of technical ability.

Then I read joker's review of the other type of marshmallows, found myself nodding in agreement, and seeing the low scores they received.

Then I started searching for great cheap headphones.

Then I came back to iems. But anyways.

With the mh1c you won't go wrong!!!

Yes, that is the right product.

I would have also recommended the monoprice 8320's since they're less than $10, but they are reaaally dependent on fit.

It's a hit or miss, For me it was a miss. I'm actually selling mine on the for sale thread.

Don't worry about the tips that come with it.

There's something different about the tips of the mh1c. Easier to get a seal and perfectly comfortable.

Yes, use Meelecs double flanges.  that way the 8320 wont touch your ears.

Just a couple of updates regarding my experiences with the 8320s, in case anyone is interested.  Oh, heck, who am I kidding?  This is the internet.  You're ALL interested in what I have to say, right? 

Anyway, EventVista posted about some tips he found on Amazon called "Squish Tips."  I followed his lead and bought a few pairs before he came back with a review, but I feel like my experience with them mirrored what EventVista posted.  They are, basically, subpar.  Its very tricky to get them in properly, as you're fighting with the end and its tendency to seal up, as much as you're fighting to get a proper seal in your ear.  They're not useless... if you put enough time and effort into them, you can get a good seal, but once you've achieved that, I just didn't find them very comfortable.  There are some mods recommended in the thread, cutting off the ends, but I didn't try that.

I also picked up some of these several weeks ago, based on rikardoliepa's recommendation/find, but they didn't arrive until yesterday.  The fit is definitely superior to the Squish Tips and I feel like they are also an improvement over the tips that come with the 8320s.  I've shied away from multi-flange tips with my previous IEMs, like my old Shures (E2Cs?) and the two pairs of NuForce NE-700s I've had, because I didn't like the fit (I just found them a little awkward), but trying these bi-flange tips with the 8320s, I find that they are pretty comfortable.

The distance it puts between the driver and your ear drum certainly affects the sound.  The highs seem a little bit higher and the soundstage is wider, but I think, to a slight detriment.  It sounds like there is almost too much "air" to them now, so music that was mixed with a lot of treble and ambience seems a little more fatiguing now.  For example, I'm listening to a Songza station called "Ultimate Party Sing-alongs" and there are a number of 80s and 90s metal songs that are a little too bright, but I think a lot of that has to do with the mastering preferences of the time.  With more modern, bass heavy music, these sound pretty great.  Jay-Z just came on and sounds pretty incredible, so it might be a case of the combination of 8320s and bi-flange tips just being too revealing.

Again, the fit is really nice.  I may have to revise the multi-flange tips with my NuForce and Thinksound IEMs, because these are a huge improvement over the 8320's default tips.  Highly recommended!

I had the same exact issue with my bi-flange tips.  So I ended up cutting mine up a little to make them shorter.  I also pulled them over the tip of the 8320, so that the distance is much shorter and closer to the stock tips (I had to use tweezers for this, it was kinda hard to do).

Here is a before and after of the bi-flange, the parts I shortened and then them installed on the 8320.  I can get better pictures of the tips if needed, so you can see the driver is at stock lengh from the tip.

I'm just using an old ipod classic. I did the tape mod too. Sounds like a totally different earphone. I now know what soundstage is. It's that thing that shrinks when you do the tape mod on 8320's.

Thanks, Bloody Penguin.  I saw your post earlier, but forgot about it when I posted my little update.  I might try this fairly soon, especially since I got so many bi-flange tips from that Chinese site.  If I'm not crazy about the result, I can always just swap them out with a new pair.  :)

No problem.  Yeah, I had a few sets of the MEElectronic tips to play with, so I was not worried about messing up a pair.  But it worked great for me on my first try.

Just remember to cut both the bottom flange and underneath the bottom flange where it goes over the tip. 

Also, I can make a quick video of how I pulled it over the base with tweezers if requested.

Thanks, BP!  I just tried cutting my bi-flange tips back, under less than ideal circumstances (sitting at my desk with a pair of old scissors), and the results were great!  They don't look very good, given that I can't cut in a straight line for some reason, but the sound does seem improved.  The only downside I can see of using this method is that when you cut the internal, small piece that slides over the earphone post, you can cut away the notches that let it "lock" into place.  I'm not getting any movement (yet), so it's a fairly minor issue.  I can just see how this might put some people off who are worried about getting a loose tip.

Surprised by these, slight harshness though will probably go away with burn in, does anyone know if there is a frequency graph of these floating around somewhere? id think there would be with all the attention they're getting but I cant find it?

Not sure actually the mids sound pretty recessed? still not burnt in though
