I tried the custom ear plug tip mod found somewhere on the forums.
Gives an excellent seal. Cheap too. Sound improves with more bass impact and of course still maintaining the clarity.

I have not re-cabled with my M9P's yet, but with the Samsung buds cable I robbed, you do not want to cut it.  Open the scavanged buds like you would the 8320's, carefully, and desolder the leads going to the driver.  This will avoid the difficulty of trying to trim and tin the tiny wires these things use.  You can also quickly restore the original buds if your experiment goes bad.

 

A "third hand" light and magnifier, and a pair of sharp tweezers, will make everything a hell of a lot easier. 

 

I have not tried to open my M9P's yet.  Maybe this weekend.  Maybe they are hard to open...   Good Luck!

I wonder, has anyone figured out who's the manufacturer of these babies? It's odd there's not a ton of them on eBay or DX.

 

BTW (sorry for the plug) I have one pair for sale if anyone from outside US is interested.

Yes, this was discussed a few pages back. The manufacturer is OVC or OVACO or something like that. They have cool products, I contacted them asking about a group buy. Never heard back.

They answered my inquiry and told me that the minimum order requirement is 1,000 pairs. I am here in China so contacting them is easy.

I see, they may not have responded to me because I am in the US, and wrote in English. I considered translating the email at the time, but I figured that could lead to just about anything being sent.

 

I really think that there are other manufacturers that offer similar values. VSONIC makes incredible products. I've talked about it before, but I have heard 4 different models from them and am blown away. There are steps up from the 8320 for under $30, which are comfortable!

Oh there definitely are products with much better value. And personally while I really hate MEP-933 for their insane ergonomics, I must say I haven't heard any low(ish) cost earphones that sound quite like these. I wonder if that manufacturer would be able to create something with more reasonable comfort.

 

I mean... First, make the sound 'tube' longer and angled, second get rid of the silly ridges, 3rd add some double-flange tips to the accessory pack and there you go, instant hit for the same price.

Small little update on the MEElectronics M6 Double Flange Tips.

 

I enjoyed the sound from them, but was having some comfort and fit issues.  They were just too big for my ear canal.

 

So just a little snip of the underside and the larger flange.  Also gave the "Tape Mod" hole a little room to breathe.

 

 

FINALLY, I have a set of tips for the 8320 that work for me.  After going through MANY others.  I could not be happier.

 

 

(Here you can see from Left to Right:  Stock M6 tip, the two parts cut off, the smaller tip and the result installed)

I contacted Monoprice asking for all of that (assuming that with their larger buying power they might be able to convince the OEM). The result? Don't get your hopes up. Try the SHE3580, I just gave a pair to my dad (they were $7), and both on here and from him, have heard very positive things. Will they hit the performance of the 8320? Maybe not, but hey, they are a conventional form factor.

OK, got my phones, 3 pairs, burned one in last night, listening now, they do have quite nice clarity, good (very slightly loose bass), slight harshness in treble (none of this bothers me). On the other hand, they feel like they are made like cheap s***, would expect them to fall apart (though, who knows), the shape/fit/comfort leaves something to be desired. They don't have the see-through clarity of my other latest purchase, JVC FXD-80, but those, while many multiples of the price of these, are still not horribly expensive, and I'm sure I'll reach for those before these any time. Still, less than 10 bucks...

I didnt think of that.  I pulled the wire out of the bud on the left side and it came out great, but when I tried to pull out the wire on the right side I ripped the wire.  I trimmed the wire on the left side to match the wire on the right, but stripping these is difficult.  Your right about the tiny wires.  This is the first re-cable Ive done.  Im going to buy a wire strippers that will work with these.  Where did you buy your "third hand"?

They work great as far as sound.  I have never heard the 8320 be so clear before.  The bass seems to have lightened up a little, but that is easily fixed with a little EQ tweeking.

yep, they work.

 

Not only with the sound but fit the fitment and comfort,  once you use the MEE doubles they dont rub or are near your ears so no comfort issues.

I have been reading almost 4 pages since the last time i was in this thread, and the same things just repeats for ever and ever:

 

People have problems with:

 

1. QC issues with some units.

2. Fitment problems.

 

its a shame these little things dont come packegd with a assorted tips, like the M6/9,  regulars, doubles and even triple flanges.

 

i had mines for months without uniderstanding/hearing what was all the talking here, but i didnt want to make any comment, then i tried those M6 doubles and WALA, BINGO... out of nowhere the sound changed from "thin" "weak"   "no bass"  "silabance" to pure music, they are easly on the level of the KSC75 (with a little less bass)

 

so, if you guys have ever heard a KSC75 i cant find the 8320 sounding equal or better, then i understand the issues, cause i was in the same both until i used M6 Doubles, you guys have issues with QC or Fitment problems, cause these things sound very good,  and yes, i got a decent iems like the FXD70 and 80  (jokers scores the 80's with a 8.7 so they are not bad at all) so i should have an idea how a more than decent iem should sound.

 

 

thin?  weak bass?  silabance?..... you got issues 1 or 2.

i must add that i bought 4 pairs, first two where defective even with the m6 doubles they sound bad.

 

its a shame they got no QC on these things and they dont come in a decent packege with tips, even if the prices goes up even to 10 bucks, they would be a huge home run. what a shame, guest thats why they are so cheap.
