Exact same, super tangle prone cable.  You should see the mess I had to deal with after taking the picture of the 8320 and 9927 side by side.  They just hook together like magnets.

BTW, I made my first "Un-boxing" video ever.  You can watch it in full 720p!  Haa.

Please don't make fun of me.... too much...

Small update. It is awesome that Monoprice listened to their customers and included three different sized tips. The smallest of the bunch fits my ears VERY well. Though not the most comfortable tips, but it is only temporary until my next set of Comply T-400 (small) gets delivered in the next day or so.

No official review of the sound. But as most have guessed, it so far sounds just like its sister IEM, the 8320.

Is the surface soft at all or flexible? Anything to make them more comfortable? Is the nozzle longer?

So far the only differences are what was expected:

- Smooth (almost rubber like) housing.

- Three different sized "cheap" plasticy tips.

- Comes in an inexpensive box.

All dimensions and specs remain the same from the 8320.

Another Update:  Got my extra set of Comply T-400 (Platium Small) in.  The 9927 sounds just as wonderful as its sister the 8320.

Nice picture, are those real reflections or just photoshopped in?

Does anyone know about the 9980? I read on the wirecutter that Monoprice announced another version of these headphones (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-headphones-under-30/), but can't seem to find anything about it.

No photoshop.  I was just as surprised that my bathroom countertop was that shinny and reflective.

Just got my 9927's right now, and truth be told, I'm surprised these things aren't sold for a little higher!

Bass: very tight, but I'd like it if there was a little bit more "oomph" to it.

Mids: while they could be a little better,I freaking love the mids, vocals are great, instruments are great, and they literally kill everything in its pricerange and above with its sound. Soundstage could be a bit better though, but I'm not complaining since they're doing great already.

treble: Not bad. Not the best, but not bad.

10/10 would buy in bulk just to hand them out/sell them.

A few years back, i had an interview at monoprice for sales.. didn't get that job.. but makes me wonder, if their employees know how good their earphones are.... I think they had alot of females working sales.

Anyways, black sure does look good. I think I'm happy with my 8320s though, no need to replace them.
