I think a tube heater would knacker a USB port :-)

this way I can use up any old tube dead or alive

makes sense! Now you know why I was asking about the voltage draw on the port.

Cheers!

it would conceivably be possible to do, but you wouldnt get much glow. tubes just dont usually glow that much unless in the dark. glow they do, but not all that much; at least the ones ive seen.

Yah, I've seen some pretty good glow from some of the big tubes - but the little 4010, and such, not so much. LED makes much more sense for decorative use. (though it won't act as a handwarmer in winter - :)

I'm bummed! Does this mean that a USB port won't light up my 845? It's only 10V@3A.

Damn...I just saw one of these on eBay for $0.10 with free shipping from China...

USB provides 5v @ 500 mA, which are shared among every usb device plugged to the computer.

Good luck, maybe it'll glow biggrin.gif

OK. LEDs it is. But how do pick the color?

RED: Fast, aggressive attack.

GREEN: Mellow, rich, organic

BLUE: Cool, liquid, deep

WHITE: The total package, combination of all of the above.

So many decisions. If only this hobby wasn't so demanding!
