I will be interested to see how the release times compare between US manufacturer and A2A. I have been waiting for a long time for the Rx3 and so to have to wait extra time for the units to potentially get to A2A first will not be fun.

From my point of view, it is great to see a company supporting headphone audio in the way that A2A does but at the end of the day ordering from Melbourne is not a lot different to ordering from the US.

If there is not a big price difference them I would like to support a2a.

Let's see how they go with the rx3... Then I can decide where I will order the Schiit statement amp and dac from. I have been discussing this statement rig with Jason for over 12 months now.

Hey guys, how are we all.

Just been scouting through the website and found this one for fellow aussies and kiwis wink_face.gif

A quick question for you, does anyone know of any audio exhibitions here?

I would really like to try out some decent IEM's as well as a few Media Players (Hifiman 801 and Colorfly C4), and as i am sure you will agree there isnt a great deal of places that we are able to try.

It's worth keeping an eye on (subscribing to) the meets forum. Even if there is a small meet at someone's house, it is worth going.

Watch out for it but the 2012 Australian Hi Fi Show will take place in Melbourne again this year *hopefully* - HiFiMan 801 and ColorFly were on demo there

last time - not a heap of Head-Fi gear outside of that and the Sennheiser stand though.

Has anyone here ever bought anything from iibuy.com.au?

This whirlpool thread paints a bit of a mixed picture, but there are more than a few positive comments so it doesn't seem like they are a scam company. They also seem to accept paypal and have a showroom for pick-ups in Sydney.

The reason I ask is that they seem to be doing some pretty insane prices on things. Shure SRH940 for $237,  Audio Technica AD1000 for $288. I'm assuming that a lot of this stuff is grey since they are selling items that not even the local distributor here sells. ie: ATH-AD2000, CK90Pro, etc.

Anyone want to be a guinea pig?

Hi mate, yes i have purchased from them a couple of times and arranged to pick my item up (a portable HD and media player also) . They are a small online business with a storage warehouse/office in Sydney. It was a year or so ago now and they may have grown. Was impressed enough with them though and the price was great compared to many others.

I would imagine that they are imported products though.

Pulled the plug on my biggest and most expensive amp upgrade just for my LCD2's. Violectric HPA V100, read a few reviews based on these from headphonia and seem's to work best with orthos. Was going to buy the V200 but it's $250 more and sound wise not that much of a difference, since the V100 is high end already should do me good for a while and will be posting impressions soon.

G'day Everyone,

A quick question if I could. I'm pretty close to securing purchase of an American WA2 however intend on having it shipped to Australia.

The local Aussie Dealer shares the same voltage specs as per the Woo Audio site for the WA2's, namely:

  • Voltage: Dual AC operation 110/220V, 50/60 Hz
  • External dimension: 5½"(H), 13"(W), 9"(D)
  • Weight: 17 lbs

As such is it safe to assume that:

1) All Woo Audio WA2's have Dual AC operation i.e. 110/220V, 50/60 Hz?

2) That I'll be able to run the WA2 in Australia with the Voltage noted above?

Or would I need a step down converter to use the WA2 down here?

Thanks,

Soapy

You realise that after you've paid shipping and GST (Item is worth more than a $1000) it will end up costing you more than buying it locally?

Plus if it goes wrong - sending it back to New York fully insured will cost you at least $150AUD again out of your own pocket.

All Woo amps are the same - they all have 110/220 switches on the back. You don't get a power cord as it uses just a standard IEC.

After postage it comes to $900, further to this it includes the $400 upgrade option i.e total cost would be in the region of $1.5k plu i.e. total saving of >= to $500, as such this justifies the purchasing it from the US.

What's everyones opinions on:

The WA 2 vs RSA Raptor for the LCD-2 Rev 2's for someone who listenings mainly to electronica?

Thanks,

Soapy
