i would have guessed that once you request a return authorisation number from amazon that the clock is stopped. 

I asked a friend who went to America on a basketball tour to get me a pair of Grados, on the contract that i would pay him back.  He came back with a pair of GS1000i!  I haven't had a problem with them, they're great.

The list goes on, it's pretty insane ~ you're better off seeking out the better retailers over here in Oz to see who's willing to send stuff over from here with

reasonable freight (assuming it gets through customs A.OK)

 

A good local meet though can drag up some goodies ~ one thing that I've learnt is that you never know who is silently lurking as we type,

never posting but if given the chance to show at a meet ~ would so with a lot of unexpected, exciting gear.

 

There's a guy down here who rarely posts and yet he has a baby Orpheus Sennheiser Electrostatic HE60 that he drags to meets on occasion!

Yeah I know.  I'm lucky because I have a few contacts.  I've dealt with Josh at Jaben - he's been really good - service was pretty much top notch.  Nice guy too.  And because I travel a lot + have clients all over the world, it hasn't been too hard to get what I want (as long as the exchange rates are OK).  I picked up my SRH840 for $129 US when I had them - and picked them up myself.  Scored a good deal on the SRH940 (US180) second hand through the used forums here and one of my clients brought them over for me.  I'm just pretty patient - watch for bargains - and buy when the cross rates are in my favour.  My HD600 were mint and just on 300 delivered.

Sadly we don't have the population over here - so I think the idea of a NZ meet may not eventuate (too far between Akld and Invercargill for a start).  I have family in Melbourne  though - so one of these days hopefully I'll get a chance to hook up with some of our Aussie mates at one of yours!

Bummer! You should have been paying attention to reviews of Monster's build quality.
 

So much Perth Head-Fi'ers on this thread, next year's meet is going to turn out great.

Hows your DT880s treating you?  Hope you're enjoying them as much as I did with mine when I had them.  They are special cans, that's for sure.

Honeymoon period is over but surprisingly I am still wowed by them every time I put them on. They're excellent! I think you recommended them to me yes? Thanks a million! It's definitely a can that puts a tick on everything I could wish for.

Nice.  If you get the chance sometime, also listen to a pair of HD600.  Different cans - but both quite balanced (IMO).  Glad you're enjoying them

That doesn't bode well for me at all. I've just paid for 2 pairs of Turbine, one standard, the other Copper. They should come next Monday.....

The idea of a headfi meet in Perth sounds like a great idea.   I think that everyone will have a short list of equipment that they are close to buying but would like to listen to frirst.

I know - I followed the impressions threads with envy .  The one thing I'd love to do now is go to a meet with my HD600s and have the chance to try out different source and amp combos - although I'm pretty sure my current targets will be on the money (planning to eventually move to a Valhalla, then sell the NFB-12 and get a Bifrost to complete the set).

Would love to listen to some flagships to see what they are like too (esp the HD800, LCD2/3, Beyer T1, and Stax 009).  All out of my price range - but would be nice to know what the difference is between mid and high end.
