Which is it?

When i stated the forever broke and never satisfied point i was referring to never being satisfied in the essence of always wanting to try something new. Not that i am not satisfied with my current headphones. I still want to try more. It's the forever broke analogy. One of these days i will try more expensive and i will keep going higher up until i can't anymore. I am incredibly satisfied with my hd 25 1 ii. I haven't experienced a pair that has made me have as much fun as i do with the senns. And i will forever sing their praise. By comparison my shures sound bland and lifeless, and perhaps to me anyways fake.

wink.gif ..... where have I heard this before ..... (just kidding with ya).

Enjoy the Senns - but don't sell the SRH840s - you may find yourself eventually going back to them again.  Still regret selling mine.  Here's my advice - stop buying gear for a while, and start buying music.  Far more satisfying - and you can always upgrade your gear again at a later date.  Enjoy what you have for a while.

I'm not ready to spend 2700 on Stax, so there's not really anything else I'm interested in. T50rp will keep me satisfied for quite some time I imagine. Not much else can extract more detail...

I forgot the KGSSV! I'm not ready to spend 1100 or so building one either! Although I would love to!

Well the shures are not bad i just find the senn hd 25 sounds more natural and overall better to me. I still listen to the shures periodically. And i'm probably going to slow down for the next few months. I have some ath m50s i ordered a few weeks ago as i had to try them. But i'm good for a while me thinks.

Which part was confusing to you?

First of all, I say I suspect. Second of all, who doesn't want the same quality at a lower price? Third of all, I wan't talking about you specifically. Unless you can prove my statement wrong, I find your statement puzzling as well.

Even in the case where you did prove my statement wrong, that would still be perfectly consistent with what I said because I clearly indicated the statement that'd followed was only my opinion which I had doubt over.

My goal was to point out the OP's poll question needed some clarification as to whether "rewind time and go back to cheap headphones" meant going back to the cheap headphones that I previously own inclusively, or it meant going back in time to when I had less money and owned cheap headphones including cheap headphones that would be better than the ones I had owned before.

I suspect the majority of people here are like me, except people who have a lot of money to spare, who enjoy placebo or who just feel superior when owning expensive headphones.

I know it's your opinion - you stated that clearly.  I even highlighted the piece I was referring to in my reply.  I'm still puzzled why you would think the majority of people here fall into the above category(s).

...ok, I could literally buy my car 12-13 times over for that. What...the heeeeeeeeeeeeellllll.

That cabinet wood better have come from the true cross, otherwise, that's some bull$@!# right there.

I could hire the bands I wanted to listen to to come play in my living room.

...but I digress. Yay, headphones! Suddenly, a V200 doesn't seem quite so expensive.

Well, if I can rewind time, I would skip the W4 and go straight to TF10 / UE700.

I'm staying under $200, unless i try some 325i or something that blows me away at a meet, forget it. I'm going to try all the budget Kings that are out there. FA SB or Eterna, Koss Pro DJ, T50RP and SRH840 are next on my list. Even if there is better, i'm sure it's only by a small percent and you probably need an expensive amp+ Flac which is a no go when i like portability.

And what would I do with all the money itching in my pockets? Use it to fill mats and pillows?

Nah, I want the good stuff...

So, you are saying you're not in that category of people who would be willing to have cheap(er) headphones that sound as good as your mid-fi setup? If you like saving money, then you fall into the first category as me, if not, then you're just an exception. There's nothing wrong with being in the minority.
