Portable hybrid headphone amp

Thread Starter

Hello everyone,

Well, i'm new to this place which seems nice. I've read some archives and did some search and found tons of useful information, so thanks for all that. I'm a newbie about electronics but i do understand quite quickly as i did scientist studies and do work in computer science programing. I do play music in a band where other members are electronics guru building DIY tube pre-amp and power amp as well as effects pedals compressors and all the like. So i can have very useful help too.

I know how to solder, read schematics and all the basis stuff someone would need to get started. As being a newbie i'd like to start with a low voltage project. However i'm kind of vintage guy and very attracted by tubes (being a musician).

To get started i'd like to start with a good compromising portable hybrid (or all tubes but seems quite complicated) headphone amp. I did some search and found some old thread that mentions tubes aren't especially suited for portable amp which i do agree but somes of you seems to achieve that. And at the end of 11 i'm sure it's possible to build something interested that could deliver that tube warmth. So if any of you have some ressources about an hybrid portable headphone amp which has all the needed info i'll be very grateful.

Regards.

Oatley electronics has a battery powered/portable mini-tube design - cheap too.

On eBay, they sell small portable tube headphone amplifiers, they ship from China, usually takes 10 days to arrive.
