powerful headphones with super extra bass / beat (for deaf people)

Thread Starter

Hi everyone,

that is my first post to this forum - if there is already a thread that covered my question, please forgive me and point me in that direction?

I am deaf myself - while I dont really hear music, I do enjoy the beat and all that that I get from subwoofers/blasters (plus ButtKickers etc), it would be nice if I can get headphones where I can feel the extra bass (lots of them!) - that way there will be a lot of beat from the headphones itself - as if im standing beside the big sound blasters.

Which headphones would you advise?

I was advised to get amps - such as a good hifi system that I can play with volume set at max?

I have a iPhone - I was at a specialist electronics shop yesterday - I was told that the iPhone won't power the headphones to the level I ll like it to be at.

Any suggestions?

Shane

A good way to get your bass needs met would be with a Sony XB500 and an affordable portable

amplifier like the Fiio E6.

Using the equalizer settings on the iPhone in conjunction with the XB500 and Fiio E6 should enable

you to reach a state of bassy bliss.

All yours for under $80USD for both.

I do not like the Sony XB500, but they do have BASS, for a good price.

I have to agree with the XB500's driven by a Fiio. Loads of bass.

XB500's have crazy bass and pretty cheap-too much for me.  JVC HARX-900?  has pretty good bass and is reasonably cheap

Hmmm, I have some doubts about the solution to the problem in question.

These headphones that have been suggested might have very good (or bad, depends on how you look at it) bass performance, but will it help in Shane's situation?

When using headphones, hearing people experience bass trough the pressure-wave hitting the eardrum.

I doubt a deaf person experiences it the same way.

With non-headphone listening it is the pressure-wave hitting the body that makes a person feel the bass. Also deaf people can "hear" the beat this way. But this effect doesn't take place when listening with headphones. No matter how loud you play them.

Everything depends on how severe the hearing-disability is.

Shane, have you ever tried headphones at really loud volumes? Did you experience anything, but very faint or did you hear nothing at all. If everything stayed silent, I'm afraid a really loud set of headphones won't help. triportsad.gif

In case you experienced the beat but just very faint, some very loud, bass heavy headphones might just what you need. :)
