Amp, Receiver, DAC setup

Hi

I currently have the fiio e7 and e9 combo and just recently bought a 5.1 receiver for my desktop. I was wondering what the setup would be like for those products.

Currently my receiver is connected through digital toslink into my desktop and my fiio combo isn't being used because I don't know whats the best way to set it up with my receiver.

I mainly use these with my Denon D2000's and my AKG Q701 and 272's.

Any advice??

Thanks!

Does the receiver have a record/tape loop/line level out? That's a good place to connect the headphone amp. Since you're using the receiver's DAC, you only need the amp.

well my reciever is the onkyo ht-s3400. It looks like theres just the component, digital and hdmi.

So you're suggesting that I should keep my receiver connected via toslink to my desktop and connect my receiver to my e9?

You would hook up the E9 to the RCA output of the Onkyo, you get nice stereo 2.0 headphone sound, but no Headphone 5.1.

Only Yamahas have headphone 5.1. output (not sure if you could hook the E9 between the Yamaha headphone output and your headphones?)

hmm all i see on my receiver are inputs no rca outputs. Is that normal?

There are two sets out RCA (red/white) outputs.

One is in the component video section.

The other is in the VCR/DVR section.

Might just be easier to plug your headphones into the Onkyo receiver.
