Hello there,
I am copying the following question, which I just posted in the portable headphone amplifiers category... I imagine both categories are appropriate. Here it goes:
-----
I have recently purchased a Fiio E7 DAC/Amplifier. I have been using it through a USB connection as an external DAC and headphone amplifier to my laptop PC.
I would like to use the E7 as a DAC for my Ipod/Iphone as well, but I am a little confused over the right choice of cable. Fiio provides Line Out Dock cables such as this one:

But I am guessing that this is a DIGITAL to ANALOGUE connection, and therefore the E7 will then only function as an amplifier, while the onboard DAC of the Ipod will be the one used (correct me if that assumption is mistaken...)
The E7 does have a mini-usb port, so I am thinking that a cable with a 30-pin connector on one end and a mini-usb jack on the other may do the trick. Something like this:
These cables don't seem to be easy to find.
Has anybody had any experience connecting an I-device to the E7 with such a cable?
Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions you may be able to offer!
Foscolo
