Amp for a Wharefedale 2.1 setup?

Hi

I am UK-based, and looking for an amp to power the Wharefedale Diamond 10.2 bookshelves and the Wharefedale Diamond SW150.

I know nothing about amps or what they do, what would the effect of an amp be? And what is the minimum I need to spend?

bump

Their specs say they need 20-100W of amp power.

You just need something that meets the power requirements, and has a line level subwoofer output. I'd say at least 50W/ch is a good minimum, under-amping speakers is not a good idea. The more money you spend (generally) the better sound you will achieve, at least to the point where you're getting everything that the Wharefedales have to offer. Spending a thousand quid on an amp for those speakers doesn't make sense.
