For Sale:
FS: Amfiton TDS-15 (AUS - Melbourne)

Will Ship To: Anywhere

Just an interest check. Picked up an Amfiton TDS-15 from Kabeer not too long ago. They're not in great condition. In fact, the cups are mounted on a make-shift frame (Stax SR-30). Haven't had time to fix the original frame up (still have them). Drivers are working perfectly though. I replaced the deflated ear pads with new ones too. Anyway, it'll be great for DIY projects and all. PM for pictures if you're interested. Am willing to ship anywhere at buyer's expense. Would definitely prefer a local buyer. Cheers.

Update 1/12/2011: I'll be willing to let these go for $ AUD 65 or best offer. Shipping at buyer's expense. Would definitely prefer to keep the deal within Australia but I don't mind shipping internationally. Photos added too. The higher quality pictures were taken by Kabeer. Lower quality ones are just there to show how they are now (basically unchanged except for the new pads). Cheers.

I tried to look these up and all I can find is an RRP of 40 old russian rubles...

They're indeed old. There's more info somewhere on wikiphonia. A chart comparing them (and other old USSR planar magnetics) to their mainstream counterparts I think. The ortho thread's a good place for info too :)

Not looking for much for this pair I guess. Was just really curious of how they sound when I bought them. Sings pretty well when paired with a powerful enough amp. Kabeer or Sim1 would have better impressions. Cheers.

It's a great ortho imo. The stax frame mod even looks quite good.

Id say its certainly on the same level as the old Fostex T50's in sound. If you want something totally different give it a go.

Also they are quite sensitive as far as orthos go.

I agree with Kabeer - imho one of the best ortho.

The only issue is that these beauties have 16 Ohm drivers and spread their wings with something that can handle such low impedance.

Is it warm like the T50?  Does it have recessed upper mids like Audeze?  :)
