Can HD650's be driven by a E7 DAC + E9 Amp Combo?

I currently have an E7 + HD595 setup as my first set of cans, I enjoy listening to classical music with them but have found that they lack what I need in bass to listen to other genres.

 

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of HD650's and adding an E9 to my setup...since I am a total noob i wanted to hear some veteran advice

Yes, and it's a pretty good budget amp for the HD-650. I always found the E9 to be a fairly bright amp, so the HD-650 is quite good with it.

Now of course the HD-650 benefits from even better amps. If you have the money, I'd spend a little more for the HD-650. It deserves it.

Asgard is a nice match for the HD-650 and can probably be found used for $200.

 

Even upgrading the E7 DAC would be totally worth it.

Agreed. The Senn HD650 has a reputation of scaling very well with amps all the way up to the Zana Deux price range.

Thanks, I'll need to do some more research on a DAC and AMP then. I might as well get a good setup from the beginning.

Well what genres do you listen to? How do you like your sound? And what is your budget?

For the most part I listen to a lot of electronic music, hip-hop and classic rock.

 

I haven't listen to any other high-end headphones besides my HD595 so I haven't established a preference in sound yet.

 

In terms of budget, I can spend 1000-1200 if I'm convinced I'll enjoy the setup for some time to come.

 

After some brief looking through threads, does this seem like an acceptable setup?

 

HRT Music Streamer II -> Little Dot MK IV -> HD650's

 

Also looking at the Schiit Bitfrost and the nuForce uDAC-2 as options for a DAC
