Looking for Advice on Noise Cancelling Headphones

Hey everyone I am new to the forum and am looking for advice as to what you think the best noise cancelling headphones are. I recently bought Beats Pro from craigslist for about $200 (compared to retail $400) and was underwhelmed by their sound across the board as well as their noise isolation. Because of this I plan to resell these and buy a better pair of headphones at around the same price. Unfamiliar with a lot of the value headphones out there and thought this would be the right place to come for advice.

My criteria for the new headphones are as follows:

I am currently working on a budget with a max. of $250 (although I would like to go lower if I could). The main purpose of this purchase is to get great sounding headphones that have a good noise cancelling feature to help me study, etc. I study both at the library (white noise) and at my house which I share with 4 roommates (conversational noise) and would like the noise cancelling to cover both. Also I prefer over the ear headphones, but could go with on ear if they are better value. Since they are over the ear, the better the style the better.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and help me pick out a worthy set of headphones!

I'm currently looking for ~200 dollar closed cans with good isolation as well, and so far, I've found two decent prospects:

AiAiAi TMA-1 ($199) on ear, but said to isolate decently well. has a bit of a darker side and is more bass heavy, but responds well to EQing. has a detachable cable and minimalistic looks. made of really durable material, there are pics of people totally bending their tma-1 and not breaking it.

Vmoda M80 (200) also on ear, also said to isolate well even without music playing. the reviews aren't really clear as to whether it's bright or not, but it hasn't been called dark. has been called a bit bass heavy, not sure how it responds to EQ. looks really nice, is quite shiny. this is made of metal and such, but is supposed to be rather light. looks durable and like it can take a beating.

i don't think noise caneclling headphone is necessary, because as long as the music is on, u will not hear sound outside.

Thanks for the suggestions, looks like I have a tough decision to make. All of these are very quality phones for the same price.
