I Need Some Advice

I am leaving for Paris in December and was wondering what would be the best portable headphone amp (coming directly from my iPod). Also, some reasonable closed headphones that are travel friendly. I don't think Air France will let me board with my Woo Audio equipment. Please advise, I'd sure appreciate it.

You haven't chosen the headphones yet? Pick a pair first; not every headphone needs amplification, and even the ones that might will not all need the same amp.

I've only used the Fiio E5, and the PA2V2 for portable amps.  It's enough of a hassle bringing along another DAP let alone an amp, but I know what you mean.

I FiiO any good? Then maybe some midline Sennheisers. ThanK YOU for your response.

E5 has been replaced with the E6, generally regarded as cleaner. Both are small and very light.

But as I said: start with the headphones, then pick an amp (if necessary). OP you're a speaker guy, right? Isn't this the same way things are done in the speaker world--choose a speaker then match it with an amp?

Check the HD-25 I II, they are not hard to drive from an mp3 player.

x2. Have mine for nearly 4 years now and still content with them. Only drawback is that my ears start to hurt after 3/4 hours of use. Many other owners will confirm this. Nevertheless, I think you can't go wrong with these ones.

True.

But comfort issues goes away on time. Just need to use them regularly.

Not here it doesn't ;) And there's many, many hours on them. Maybe band-aid the top of my ears before use. Or after :)
