rig upgrade. iem or amp?

Hi everyone.

I currently am looking for an upgrade to my portable rig. Currently my rig is an ipod 120g + govibe martini amp + shure se425.

I recently manage to hear the se535 ltd and WOW they are GOOD. They are more balanced and have a bigger soundstage and i absolutely loved it. When i when back home and listen to my se425 i feel like they are inferior.

However, the problem is i just got se425 recently and i was in fact looking to replace my martini amp which i have been using for 4 years. I was in fact looking at the predator however, after talking to my friends they were like "since if you want to upgrade why not just get the best?" So i am currently looking at the sr-71b (hoping to buy second hand though). However i happened to chance upon the continental and i read the reviews which are pretty damn fantastic.

Currently i only have enough funds to get one item. And i was wondering which should i go for. However i am currently leaning towards the red se535s. They are really really fantastic. oh the poison.

what do you head-fiers think? help me!

IEM upgrade should be your next step.

I agree the iem would see the most improvement.

So what is next guys?

Didn't you say you only had enough funds for one upgrade?

I think the next step would be to conduct research and development into a new sound media format that increases overall sound quality, market the resulting product heavily (preferably with the assistance of some celebrity), then use the funds generated to upgrade everything until you are completely satisfied.  Or you could get a new portable DAC like the CLAS.

LOLLLLLLLLLLL!

I was indeed in fact of thinking of buying a CLAS but I am also of thinking of getting and imod. So I am torn between choices. anyway, i have yet to see a full fledge comparison between whipmod, rwa imod, CLAS and the HP-P1.

Ah I see. Well, I tried the Fostex in a shop once, but I felt that the volume knob doesn't give a lot of "play" with an IEM; in other words, the music got loud fairly fast, and the volume knob didn't go past 9-10 o'clock.

Have you received your 535 yet? Do you find them lacking in any way, straight out of the iPod?

hmmm.

I have yet to recieve my special edition 535s. Still need to wait awhile for it.

you will find the SpecialEd 535 slightly more diff from normal 535s.

i vote go for an amp+LOD setup

not sure whether you are currently using an LOD, because that matters.

if you are lookin for small sizes, consider headstage arrow, ttvj slim, pico slim or rsa shadow.

all good options;)
