Headphone advice

Pretty straight-forward, looking for entry-budget (up to around 75$) headphones. Top choices so far are:

Sennheiser HD 215-II, Sennheiser HD 439, Sennheiser HD 429, Beyerdynamic 235. Should i push a bit and get the Grado SR60i's?
I listen to literally any genre, ranging from all jazz, trip top to techno, rock (industrial, alternative, progressive, "indie"), some classical'ish acts, etc.

Couple of options.

Panasonic HTF600 for closed (semi-open really though) with velour padding.

Samon SR850 or Superlux 668B for semi-open. Also can be velour padded with AKG pads.

Grados SR60i is another great option if you can get them cheaper or used even. Recommend with L-cush pads as a must-have-upgrade. They are open, so be aware they are not isolating at all. But are an excellent entry headphone.

Very best,

Many thanks for the reply. Still odd that the HD 439's have received so litle testing around, are they THAT new?

Another vote for the Grado 60 esp if you don't mind buying used.  I like the JVC Harx-700 too, but they are huge.

They are listed as "Coming Soon!" on headphones.com, so I think that they are very new.

These are closed cans ranging up to 80 dollars

  • sony xb700
  • shur srh240
  • srh 440 (pricing fluctuates),
  • HD280 pro
  • HD428
  • HD438 (again with the fluctuating prices).
  • Koss DJ100

If you instead want an open can, I'd vouch for the SR60i or even the 80i if you can find it for 75-80. I personally own the sr80i and love it to no end.

After all my headphones, I still love the HD280 Pro. Excellent entry-level phone. Handles all genres very well - that's the beauty.
