Closed Circumaural = Headphone cup is closed, not open, circumaural means the cup fits around your ear, not on your ear.

If you're still thinking about the Senns, the HD448 that you looked at earlier is in your budget, $50 on Amazon:

It's a pretty damn good headphone for that price, although the Grado is definitely better with clarity. It might be helpful to know what genres of music you listen to to get the best fit.
