"Sorry about your wallet"

Never a truer word spoken.

Much as i like this forum i now know why i never hang around for long periods.

This week alone i have bought.

Fiio E7

Custom lod

Sansa fuze

Ultrasone pro 900's

Seriously guys stop it, it's hurting!!!!

But seriously this place is a really bad place for me to hang out.

So can i assume many of you have had equally if not more mad moments?

Something inside me just snapped, and i just threw caution to the wind, no other forum has this spending effect on me!!

Btw im not trying to show off, just proving a point.

Yes, this place is full of pickpockets. deadhorse.gif

There should be a big warning sign as such. L3000.gif

In my past few months here, I've amassed three headphones (SR60, XB500, 7506), two iems (Mee M6, Ety MC5), and I have more on the way (Fiio E6, LOD, cheap Focalprice iems). I need to sell some stuff off and get some self control.

I must agree to this. I recently started getting more interested about proper sound quality and gear, and joined up here. In my short time here, I've spent quite a bit of money. And ouch, I'm a broke student already.

So far I've bought:

TWag LOD

TWag IEM cable

JH16's

MTPC

Pico Slim

Audioengine A5

By the way OP, what's your take on the Pro 900's for a basshead/DnB addict? I've been looking into those.

May need to update the Sorry About Your Wallet and a priceless in there somewhere.  Because there is the joy of the return for your moneycool.gif

And my wallet has taken a beating in years...............

For a basshead they're ideal, some would point towards the denon ah2000 but i can't comment there as i've never auditioned them.

But throw anything bassy their way and they love it. Slightly recessed mids with lots of sparkle in the top end.

The whole "sorry about your wallet" crap perpetuates because newbies come here, believe every word the masses say, and throw money at all the wrong problems.

It's your money, it's your wallet. You're doing it to yourself. No one else is responsible. I stopped saying "sorry for your wallet" because I'm not sorry. It's like feeling sorry for a man who's stabbing himself in the chest with the butcher knife you gave him.

Depends on how you look at it. I never take the "sorry about your wallet" thing too seriously. If I truly could not afford a piece of equipment (and yes, there are many), then I simply don't buy it. I don't see there's much else to it. But sure, it does hurt the wallet sometimes, when you read about something you didn't know existed, finally get to audition it and realize that you must own it.

I guess his point is, without reading on the forums, you're living in happy ignorance. I was a happy camper back in the day, when I thought the Skullcandy's my mother gave me were the best there was, and the bass was oomph oomph - then, I discovered other brands, high-end stuff, and my wallet suddenly became empty, because I needed to have it.

I don't think anyone truly means "I'm sorry for your wallet", I guess it's just some old, very used joke? No reason getting upset about it at least, though I get your analogy with the stabbin'.

There are a lot of pricey toys in this hobby. I laugh at the SAYW stuff, but it comes down to whether you regret upgrading your audio rig. If I was going for value I would have stopped with modded Fostex Orthos and an E9 for $200. I'm glad I didn't.

Its just a joke. You are assuming that every poster with a low post count is a newbie in high end audio. I was in audio before there was even such a thing as high end head gear. And you are also assuming that every newbie here with a fat wallet is as gullible as an overweight couch potato that can lose weight by just rubbing some magic cream on their celluloid.

I made no mention of post count. And from what I've seen, yes, most people on this forum are that gullible, or at least too trusting for their own good.

were into audio before hi-end head gear? you must of been born in the 60's before solid state started becoming more mainstream in the consumer market.

Actually I find a lot of newbies here ask excellent questions. Like how can interconnects make a difference, power cords, DACs, tubes versus solid state, etc... Back then I mostly relied on reading Stereophile and Absolute Sound. Buying/selling used equipment on Audiomart. I've bought some expensive equipment from Audiomart and never once got scammed.
