Hi, i've had this problem for over 2 months now and haven't got anywhere.

A while back i bought the MOTU Microbook, I've installed the Microbook and the USB drivers from the install CD ('SetupAudio.exe'). I have sound, lovely sound. But when i go into Control Panel and click 'Volume' for the Microbook, i get this message:

"There is a problem with your sound hardware. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware and then click Add Hardware".

I did this but after searching for new drivers, there was nothing to be found.

Amongst other things, I want to be able to use my Microbook to play music in a chat room called Paltalk. But without a mixer device, i can't change the soundcard to Recording mode. Which is what needs to be done to be able to play music in a chat room with any sound card.

When i first installed the Microbook, i installed the PCI 424 driver from the CD with it. But i read on another forum that you don't need it for my situation. I don't have a clue if this is true or not. But with or without it, there's still no mixer devices.

Iv'e also tried setting the Windows Audio Service to Automatic and Started like many forums suggest. (Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK | Scroll down to and double click Windows Audio | Set the startup type to Automatic | Click Apply | Click the Start button | When the service starts, click OK | Close Services)

But it was already set to automatic and was also started.

Anyone ever ran into a similar problem with their external soundcard? I'm using XP Professional, SP3, 32-bit. Any help would be much appreciated, i'm pulling my hair out here. confused_face_2.gif

Cheers.
