Dear Valued Head-fier:

With your support, the HiFiMAN brand continues to grow worldwide, as well as in North America. With that growth, it affords us the opportunity to have better manufacturing efficiencies and with that the opportunity for lower prices.

In our line of full-size headphones, we are pleased to announce dramatically lower prices on two of our models, HE-300 and HE-500 with a small increase on our award-winning HE-6.

Effective November 12th, our new MSRPs will be:
HE-300   $249 new improved velvet earpads and more flexible cable
HE-500   $699 new improved leather earpads and silver cable
HE-6      $1299 new improved leather earpads for increased comfort

I realize that price changes, even lower process, can be disruptive. Please know that with these changes, I expect our pricing to remain stable for the foreseeable future. I hope you will take advantage of the great values that the HE-300, HE-500 and HE-6 represent.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Fang Bian, Founder and President

Bump! HE-500 will be hot now! ;)

Why an increase in HE-6 price? How did better manufacturing efficiencies have the opposite effect of reducing costs on the HE-6?

And I agree with noodles about the HE-500.

Could the translation be: the HE-500 ain’t selling well and the HE-6 is?

My read is in response with the other ortho maker. They make a new and a lot more expensive product yet their number 2 is open to competition. I have a product that is about the same so I lower the price to sell more.

Specially with the holiday season coming up.

Nice prices Fang, hope it translates into more members being able to hear your products.

Wow. The HE 500 is priced very competitively against LCD2.

they're still £775 ($1,245) @ ampcity...

Do the Velour pads still come with the HE500?

Heya,

I love the HE-500. Nice new price for people looking at it.

I sure wish Hifiman would: released a closed headphone like the HE-500, and release a new cable that is nylon sheathed for the HE-500 and a little longer (no need for fancy metal materials on the inside for me though, just a longer, nicer exterior cable).

Very best,

Very best,

That sounds like the HE-4 cable. I kept that cable when I sold them.

Wow this is great! I really really want to hear how those HE-300 sound. I've heard the HD-650s the DT 880s and of course my current headphones the AKG 702s I would love to compare these to the HE-300 if its impressive like the HE-6 were then we might have some new competition in the sub $400 category. Maybe some day I will buy or hear these.

At any rate good job pushing a product out in this price range! smily_headphones1.gif

Christmas is coming and I have two options for my Christmas list :

1-Hifiman HE-500 and Beyrdynamic 70 (70 not 70p)
or
2-Beyerdynamic T5p
So any suggestions or Ideas are appreciated.

Currently listening to the HE500 and it is just a beautiful sounding can. I use the HE6 balanced OCC cable hooked up to a RWA Signature 30.2 and except for the AKG K1000 can't think of a better can. Have not listened to the T5p or the 70 so I can not comment on how they would compare.
