Advice for setup with FIIO E9

Thread Starter

I am looking for advice on how to hook up a FIIO E9 amplifier to my Presonus Firestudio Mobile soundcard (have yet to order the E9)

I run the Presonus to my computer via firewire.

The backs of both products look like this:

FIOO E9:

Which cords/cables would I need?

cheers

Weird, it doesn't look like there are any rca's on the Presonus. Are the connections on the Presonus 3.5mm or 6.3mm?

If there 6.3mm then this cable should do:

http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP153-Cable-Inch-Dual/dp/B000068O3C/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321076660&sr=1-2

It would go into the Fii9's 3.5mm analog line in.

all the connections on the presonus are 6.3 mm (1/4" TRS)

So the 2 TS cables would go into 2 of the line inputs on the Presonus? (As shown in pic)

For some reason I thought that I would only need to use one input connection for the FIIO E9...

No you need the outputs, the main output goes into the e9.

I plug the the cord from the E9 into the "main out L/R" outputs of the Presonus? I thought that's where the monitors were plugged into...

The 6.3mm left/right cables go into the left/right "main out" (highlighted in silver at the center of the presonus) and the 3.5mm goes into the "line in" left most on the Fiio E9.

The speaker monitors would be plugged into the 3.5mm "pre-out" on the Fiio E9 I believe.
