@Caladbolg: A trusted associate of mine has spoken. You have chosen wisely.

Is there any difference between the Ultrasones DJ 1/DJ 1 Pro and the HFI-580? Y'know, besides looks.

Mmmm, good question.  Most reports are no but there is a minor spec difference.  Somebody heard from somebody who heard somebody at Ultrasone say they use the same drivers which may be true but I think there was a slight impedance variation or something else I dug up that wasn't an exact match.  Could be the SLogic implementation not sure.  I know the HFI580 had the newer generation SLogic+ that even many Pros didn't have.

Oh, one of those DJ's is the maybe clone, the other is not, forget which.  So don't bundle them both together in your minds-eye.

I listen to a lot of electronic music (in various sub-genres).  I got hooked on it a long time back...

A couple of its aspects I most enjoy are its clarity and detail

But the question remains, is there any Ultrasone to get under 1000?  I'm not sure the words "better" and "highs" work very well with the word "Ultrasone"

The DJ 1's is a tweaked clone of the 580's from what I'm reading while the Pro is a tweaked clone of the 550 Pro. Both for flatter response. For me it seems more like do I wanna give up that nice metal plating on the cups for a detachable cord. The DJ Pros are also better for long periods and have rounder cups, but I have a small head and ears anyway. Plus, I never found an issue with the 750DJ's comfort until the retractable headband on the left side broke...

So does anyone know anything about the 550 Pro or DJ 1 Pro vs the 580 with electronica. Cause depending if I can squeeze out some more money, I may just drop the money on the DJ1 Pro
