Gotta do with mainstream music and audiophile thingie, but it wouldn't be appropriate posting...

Part 1.

I find Justin Bieber's Baby (ft Ludacris) to be very catchy. It's got a really nice rhythm.

I'm not talking about audiophiles here, I'm talking about the general public.

Why do people hate mainstream artistes?

Skrillex was the feshizzle once upon a time (claims some dude on Youtube), and then people started hating him because he went "mainstream".

My Chemical Romance had a pretty good first album (I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love) but then people started hating them on their subsequent albums.

Linkin Park, etc.

WHY.

Part 2.

Does owning better gear move you away from bands/musicians you previously liked because their music sounds like trash on better gear?

Whatever happened to enjoying music? By listening to tracks that sound good on your gear, aren't you really just enjoying your gear?

Part 3.

I've been thinking. You know how we always say how we pity the people who are still stuck with stock earbuds/headphones? What about the people

who drink $30 bottled water? Do you think they would look down on us normal people who drink water from pipes? Because some people equate audiophiles

to be a snobby group of anti-social people. My mom's into handbags and stuff and I'm like why mom? Why spend more than fifty on a bag?

And then she's all, why don't you use stock earbuds?

._.

That is all, ladies and gents.

Just finished downloading DSOTM, brb.

I don't get it.

I still listen to and love some of the top40 stuff, despite acquiring better gear.

Loud and proud, bro.

It depends on the music, its mainly the lyricism that gets the criticism. For example, look at some of the new stuff by Lil Wayne and Kanye

Stax on deck, patron on ice, and we can pop bottles all night, ...

o.o

But that's cool. At times I've been turned off listening to some songs from MCR's first album since they're so badly recorded, but it's revisiting these old songs that I use to like is what's cool. I tried listening to better recorded music and while they do sound good, I'm enjoying my gear as opposed to enjoying the music.

1: I hate to admit that I love 'Baby'...but it's ridiculously catchy...

Some people hate mainstream artists because now that everyone knows about them they're not cool anymore. I never really understood this...Listen to what you want and enjoy.

Skrillex has always been mainstream...But he's been improving since his first EP.

MCR started receiving hate because they started with angst filled music and deteriorated into whiny music. Similar progression with Linkin Park. They started with angry angst ridden music and got into touchy feely crap. They really lost their sound with the break they took.

2: I still listen to poorly recorded tracks because it is music I enjoy. Sure, I know the recording is poor but I've made sure not to get something too analytical so I wouldn't have to stop listening to it.

A lot of people around here have multiple pairs of headphones for this exact reason.

3: I really hate fashion vs audio arguments as one actually does something and the other just looks pretty.

It's really more about what people value. Most people are fine with their earbuds because they don't value sound. They might value their car...or high performance PC more.

The average consumer is fine with stock buds because they aren't the kind of people to sit back and listen to music for hours...

There's of course more to be said on a topic like this so I'm just scratching the surface.

EDIT: Here's a few Top 40 / Mainstream stuff I've been enjoying: Nelly - Just a Dream (I've been a Nelly fan on and off since Country Grammar) & Rhianna - We Found Love (ft. Calvin Harris) (Rhianna has some catchy tunes, but this one is excellent being a fan of EDM)
