I was simply offering a better solution, as in my opinion the DVD via RCA -> E9 is a better solution than Coax to Converter / E10

The Pioneer BDP51 FD and the BDP05 both have a separated circuit board for analog with Wolfson DAC, so I let the BDP51-FD DAC does the D/A conversion and I use the FiiO E9 just as a headphone amp.

 

My Onkyo DVD does not have a good internal DAC as the Pioneer BDP51 FD, so I use either the Toslink ( optical) or Coaxial out and let the FiiO E10 DAC do the D/A conversion.

 

 

Forget the amp - I just want to see the warehouse where you keep all those headphones ! 

If only E10 has an optiical or coax input.

Thank you for your input before I order the FiiO E10. I was all excited after reading the review on Headphonia. So, the FiiO E10 does not work for me then.

 

I guess I am stuck with the Fii O E9 for my Pio BDP51 FD and I need to get a DAC/Headphone amp with Optical or Coaxial input for my Onkyo DVD/SACD player.

 

 

Well, the upcoming E17 will have digital input but it will be launched Feb 2012 and going to be at least twice as expensive as E10. The good news is it can be docked onto the E9 so you are getting another setup with one purchase.

I think you misunderstood, I wasn't clear enough in my reply.  I suggested the RCA to E9 combo over a Coaxial out to a converter.  Definitely should not have said converter / E10.  Strip off the E10, my bad.  

 

Coaxial out has some trouble with bass and subwoofers, google that for a fun read.  Stick with RCA to an authentic Amplifier, in my experience it works flawlessly for DVD players and sounds pretty darn good.

 

Cool. I just may get a E 10 for my laptop. The E6 does improve and cut off some harshness from the Sony headphone jack output but the E10 still "in my mind". What do they call it?  Champagne for the beer price. I am in.
